When we compared Clear Lake High School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, with Clear Creek High School, which is a part of CLEAR CREEK ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Clear Lake High School’s regular student population is 2,485 with a student-teacher ratio of 17.1 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Clear Creek High School is 2,343 students and a student-teacher ratio of 16 students/teacher ratio.
Clear Lake High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 91 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 86 in closing performance gaps. It scored 90 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Clear Lake High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Clear Creek High School’s only distinction designation is in Comparative Academic Growth.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Clear Lake High School. They make up for 41.05% of student population, followed by Hispanics (34.29%), Asians (11.79%), African Americans (7.40%), Two or More Races (5.07%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
The student population at Clear Creek High School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 43.88%, followed by Hispanics (35.17%), African Americans (11.35%), Asians (5.25%), Two or More Races (3.97%) and Native Americans (0.34%).
Based on household incomes, the Clear Lake High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 29.22% compared to 33.76% at Clear Creek High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Clear Lake High School has 213 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 8.57% of student population. Clear Creek High School has more ELLs at 234 or about 9.99% of student population.
Clear Lake High School’s bilingual students comprise 7.44%, gifted and talented students, 16.94%, while 9.13% are in the special education program. Clear Creek High School bilingual students comprise 9.48%, gifted and talented students, 8.66%, and 13.66% are in the special education program.
Clear Lake High School's 145 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 11.6 years. Clear Creek High School's 146 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 12.8 years.
Of its teaching staff, Clear Lake High School has four teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 24 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 37 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 38 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 35 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including seven beginning teachers. Clear Creek High School has seven teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 26 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 41 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 32 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 35 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including six beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Clear Lake High School employs 88 female teachers and 56 male teachers. On the other hand, Clear Creek High School employs 86 female teachers and 60 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 27 special education teachers are being assisted by 22 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs six staff members in the school administration department and 24 more working as school support staff.
