When we compared Carter Lomax Middle School, which is a part of PASADENA ISD, with Earnesteen Milstead Middle School, which is a part of PASADENA ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Carter Lomax Middle School’s regular student population is 636 with a 13.2 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Earnesteen Milstead Middle School is 684 students and a 11 students/teacher ratio.

It is in this area where the two schools differ. Carter Lomax Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and with 25% student progress. Earnesteen Milstead Middle School’s only distinction designation is in Mathematics.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Carter Lomax Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 80.35% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (11.32%), Asians (3.77%), African Americans (3.14%), Two or More Races (1.10%) and Native Americans (0.31%).
At Earnesteen Milstead Middle School, Hispanics make up 88.60% of student population, followed by African Americans (6.58%), Whites or Caucasians (4.09%), Asians (0.29%), Two or More Races (0.29%) and Native Americans (0.15%).
Based on household incomes, the Carter Lomax Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 67.30% compared to 84.36% at Earnesteen Milstead Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Carter Lomax Middle School has 200 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 31.45% of student population. Earnesteen Milstead Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 388 or about 56.73% of student population.
In addition, Carter Lomax Middle School has 22.64% bilingual students, 8.96% are in the gifted and talented program, while 12.89% are in the special education program.
