Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Caldwell Heights Elementary School, which is a part of ROUND ROCK ISD, with Forest North Elementary School, which is a part of ROUND ROCK ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Caldwell Heights Elementary School has a regular student population of 560 with a 10.7 students/teacher ratio while Forest North Elementary School has 242 students and a student-teacher ratio of 9.4 students/teacher ratio.
Caldwell Heights Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 73 in student achievement, 85 in school progress and 75 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Forest North Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and with 25% student progress. Caldwell Heights Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Caldwell Heights Elementary School. They make up for 54.46% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (20.18%), African Americans (17.50%), Two or More Races (4.11%), Asians (3.39%) and Native Americans (0.36%).
The student population at Forest North Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 37.19%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (28.10%), African Americans (17.77%), Asians (8.68%) and Two or More Races (7.85%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Caldwell Heights Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 53.93% compared to 46.28% at Forest North Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Caldwell Heights Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 24.11% of its student population compared to 18.60% at Forest North Elementary School.
Caldwell Heights Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 30.71%, gifted and talented students, 5.89%, while 14.11% are in the special education program. Forest North Elementary School bilingual students comprise 18.18%, gifted and talented students, 5.79%, and 16.12% are in the special education program.
