Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. It is in this area where the two schools differ. Burbank Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Gregory-Lincoln Ed Ctr’s two out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary and with 25% student progress.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Burbank Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 83.33% of student population, followed by African Americans (14.72%), Whites or Caucasians (1.58%), Native Americans (0.24%) and Asians (0.12%). There is no Two or More Races student in the school.
At Gregory-Lincoln Ed Ctr, African Americans are the biggest group, comprising 63.44% of student population, followed by Hispanics (29.38%), Whites or Caucasians (3.51%), Two or More Races (2.67%), Asians (0.67%) and Native Americans (0.33%).
Based on household incomes, Burbank Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 97.69% compared to 92.15% at Gregory-Lincoln Ed Ctr.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Burbank Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 49.51% of its student population compared to 13.36% at Gregory-Lincoln Ed Ctr.
