When we compared Bonham Middle School, which is a part of AMARILLO ISD, with Travis 6th Grade Campus, which is a part of AMARILLO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Bonham Middle School’s regular student population is 851 with a 16 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Travis 6th Grade Campus is 315 students and a 13.6 students/teacher ratio.
Bonham Middle School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 91 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 81 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Bonham Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Travis 6th Grade Campus did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Bonham Middle School is Whites or Caucasians who make up nearly 69.80% of student population, followed by Hispanics (20.80%), African Americans (5.17%), Asians (1.76%), Two or More Races (1.65%) and Native Americans (0.71%).
At Travis 6th Grade Campus, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 58.41% of student population, followed by African Americans (16.19%), Asians (12.06%), Whites or Caucasians (10.16%), Two or More Races (2.54%) and Native Americans (0.32%).
Based on household incomes, the Bonham Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 31.61% compared to 89.21% at Travis 6th Grade Campus.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Bonham Middle School has 16 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 1.88% of student population. Travis 6th Grade Campus has significantly more ELLs at 138 or about 43.81% of student population.
Bonham Middle School’s bilingual students comprise 1.88%, gifted and talented students, 13.63%, while 13.87% are in the special education program. Travis 6th Grade Campus bilingual students comprise 43.81%, gifted and talented students, 5.40%, and 14.29% are in the special education program.
