Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. Blackland Prairie Elementary School has a regular student population of 637 with a 14.5 students/teacher ratio while Union Hill Elementary School has 610 students and a student-teacher ratio of 10.6 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction Designations for Blackland Prairie Elementary School and Union Hill Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Blackland Prairie Elementary School. They make up for 56.67% of student population, followed by Hispanics (22.76%), Asians (12.56%), Two or More Races (4.55%), African Americans (3.14%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
At Union Hill Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 57.54% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (20.16%), African Americans (15.41%), Two or More Races (4.59%), Asians (1.97%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
Based on household incomes, the Blackland Prairie Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 8.95% compared to 52.79% at Union Hill Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Blackland Prairie Elementary School has 45 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 7.06% of student population. Union Hill Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 172 or about 28.20% of student population.
Blackland Prairie Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 6.44%, gifted and talented students, 6.44%, while 8.16% are in the special education program.
