Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Birkes Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Science, post-secondary and with 25% student progress. Lieder Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Birkes Elementary School. They make up for 34.93% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (27.89%), African Americans (15.66%), Asians (13.60%), Two or More Races (7.34%) and Native Americans (0.39%).
At Lieder Elementary School, Hispanics make up 73.29% of student population, followed by African Americans (11.30%), Whites or Caucasians (6.21%), Asians (6.21%), Two or More Races (2.24%) and Native Americans (0.50%).
Based on household incomes, the Birkes Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 45.89% compared to 86.46% at Lieder Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Birkes Elementary School has 139 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 13.60% of student population. Lieder Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 373 or about 46.34% of student population.
Birkes Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 13.31%, gifted and talented students, 8.51%, while 12.82% are in the special education program. Lieder Elementary School bilingual students comprise 45.47%, gifted and talented students, 1.24%, and 10.43% are in the special education program.
