Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Best Elementary School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, with Mahanay Elementary School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.
Best Elementary School has a regular student population of 765 with a 13 students/teacher ratio while Mahanay Elementary School has 534 students and a student-teacher ratio of 11.1 students/teacher ratio.

Mahanay Elementary School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. Best Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Best Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 80.65% of student population, followed by African Americans (16.34%), Whites or Caucasians (1.44%), Asians (0.65%) and Native Americans (0.52%). There is no Two or More Races student in the school.
The student population at Mahanay Elementary School is also predominantly by African Americans at 36.33%, followed by Hispanics (36.52%), Asians (23.60%), Whites or Caucasians (3.18%), Native Americans (0.19%) and Two or More Races (0.19%).
Based on household incomes, the Best Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 84.97% compared to 87.83% at Mahanay Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Best Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 75.56% of its student population compared to 49.44% at Mahanay Elementary School.
In addition, Best Elementary School has 75.56% bilingual students, 1.18% are in the gifted and talented program, while 7.19% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Mahanay Elementary School with 48.88% bilingual students, 1.50% gifted and talented students and 15.54% students in the special education program.
