Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Benjamin Doc Kerley Elementary School and Ray Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Benjamin Doc Kerley Elementary School. They make up for 37.69% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (33.84%), African Americans (18.84%), Two or More Races (6.19%), Asians (2.89%) and Native Americans (0.14%).
At Ray Elementary School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 54.10% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (29.15%), African Americans (11.73%), Two or More Races (3.85%), Asians (0.67%) and Native Americans (0.50%).
Based on household incomes, the Benjamin Doc Kerley Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 29.30% compared to 38.19% at Ray Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Benjamin Doc Kerley Elementary School has 85 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 11.69% of student population. Ray Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 159 or about 26.63% of student population.
