When we compared Armstrong Middle School, which is a part of PLANO ISD, with Frankford Middle School, which is a part of PLANO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Armstrong Middle School’s regular student population is 616 with a 12.1 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Frankford Middle School is 973 students and a 15 students/teacher ratio.
Armstrong Middle School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 72 in student achievement, 80 in school progress and 77 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Frankford Middle School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Armstrong Middle School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Armstrong Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 66.23% of student population, followed by African Americans (15.10%), Whites or Caucasians (12.82%), Asians (3.57%) and Two or More Races (2.27%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at Frankford Middle School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 33.09%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (29.09%), African Americans (26.52%), Asians (5.65%), Two or More Races (5.14%) and Native Americans (0.41%).
Based on household incomes, Armstrong Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 63.64% compared to 43.06% at Frankford Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Armstrong Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 43.83% of its student population compared to 22.30% at Frankford Middle School.
In addition, Armstrong Middle School has 43.34% bilingual students, 10.23% are in the gifted and talented program, while 16.40% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Frankford Middle School with 21.89% bilingual students, 13.26% gifted and talented students and 13.46% students in the special education program.
