Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. Cesar Chavez Learning Center’s only distinction designation is in Science.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 81.19% of student population, followed by African Americans (17.47%), Whites or Caucasians (1.15%) and Two or More Races (0.19%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
The student population at Cesar Chavez Learning Center is also predominantly by African Americans at 51.81%, followed by Hispanics (42.14%), Whites or Caucasians (2.07%), Asians (2.07%), Two or More Races (1.38%) and Native Americans (0.52%).
Based on household incomes, Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 95.20% compared to 94.99% at Cesar Chavez Learning Center.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 56.81% of its student population compared to 33.16% at Cesar Chavez Learning Center.
Adelfa Botello Callejo Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 50.48%, gifted and talented students, 12.67%, while 13.63% are in the special education program. Cesar Chavez Learning Center bilingual students comprise 30.57%, gifted and talented students, 10.54%, and 12.61% are in the special education program.
