Moving to Houston

Have you ever thought, Texas is where I want to be! Oddly enough, after this last year of the pandemic, it seems that many people all over the country have found themselves with this desire.

People from all walks of life have started their migration south to stay. In Texas, we do not have state taxes, the cost of living is lower (or it used to be), and there are world class activities that one can take part in.

As a native Houstonian it was not always easy to understand the value of my hometown, but over the last thirty something years of life, I have found that more and more people want to be where I have always been. Austin, is typically the first city many people have in mind when moving down south, and why not? It is vibrant, weird, and full of art and music. It is definitely a place that even I have wanted to be on most occasions. The issue with this is that Austin is becoming more and more unattainable for those looking to live a modest lifestyle. The cost of living has skyrocketed due to its increasing popularity and natural beauty. So how are you going to get here?

There are options for those with a little more modest budget. San Antonio is of course an option. With a rich culture and theme parks, it is a place close enough to Austin.

Houston. Houston is, well a melting pot of cultures and entertainment. This oil and gas focused city is rich in live entertainment and experiences. Weekend vacations to most of what Texas and Louisiana has to offer is a wonderful draw and unbeatable. One week you may be at South By, and the next you may be at the casinos just a few hours the opposite direction. The coast is vibrant as well. All summer, many residents of the city escape to Galveston which is just about an hour away from the center of downtown Houston. This provides many people the option of vacation properties as well. What better way to live and invest? As I am writing this in December of 2021, it was in the mid 80s over this last weekend-fantastic beach weather.

The food in Houston is another draw that is unbeatable. The cuisine in and around the city is one that is fantastic and everychanging. This is a foodies playground of endless opportunities to try the next best thing.

So when you find yourself looking to the south for a change of pace and scenery look no further than Houston to satisfy all of your needs.
