Nashville is a city on the banks of the Cumberland River in Tennessee, with a population of nearly 680,000 residents. Commonly known as Music City or The Athens of the South, Nashville was founded by James Robertson and John Donelson from Virginia in 1779 and named for Francis Nash who died defending Fort Nashborough during the American Revolutionary War.

The city has since become an international epicenter for country music recording as well as other types of popular music and songwriting including rock n' roll, R&B, blues, gospel, bluegrass and jazz.

Nashville has been called The Los Angeles of Country Music because it offers more than 100 studios where you can produce your own album but for those who live there, it offers so much more!

For the Music

It's no surprise that music is everywhere in Nashville - there's a large variety of different genres, awesome live shows, cheap tickets and a huge array of musicians living and working in the city.

Its internationally known as The Music City for its rich musical heritage and has been named one of the nation's top three music cities. There are around 300 live venues offering live entertainment every night of the week - there are so many great shows to choose from, it's hard to pick just one! There are not too many places like this in the world - making Nashville an amazing place to live if you're a musician or music lover.

Nashville is arguably more well-known as the home of country music, but it has a variety of other genres to explore. Enjoy jazz at The Bluebird Cafe and rock out at Exit/In. There's also an extremely diverse nightlife scene in Music City, ranging from honky-tonks (think Redneck Riviera) and classic bars - not mention live music venues like Tootsie's Orchid Lounge - to dance clubs for when you're ready to party until dawn.

For the Love of Craft Beer

If you are a lover of craft beer, Nashville is your new favorite city. With more than 40 local breweries and a number of nationally renowned ones, it's hard to choose where to start. You have options when it comes to drinking, so take advantage!

1) Yazoo Brewing Company

Located in downtown Nashville near Printers Alley, Yazoo has been brewing up some unique beers since 2003. Focusing on traditional styles with simpler ingredients and processes, their beers balance subtle flavors with complexity. One of the breweries that started the now popular sour beer trend as well as was one of the first to revive cask ale in Tennessee, Yazoo proves they can do it all – from sessionable lagers to high alcohol barrel-aged sour ales.

2) Jackalope Brewing Co.

Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, just steps away from Broadway and The District, you can't miss this huge and inviting brewery with its giant red stag out front. With its laid-back vibe, live music every day, and always a great food truck parked outside – it's easy to spend all afternoon here. Keeping to traditional styles, Jackalope still manages to turn them on their heads a bit for their own signature style.

3) Bearded Iris Brewing

Bearded Iris Brewing is one of the newest additions to Nashville's flourishing microbrewery scene. Having first opened its doors in 2013, Bearded Iris now has a brewery and taproom downtown and an outpost in Germantown. They focus on clean beers brewed with locally sourced ingredients, most notably through their co-op partnership with Blackberry Farms.

For the Food

Nashville is a wonderful place to live because there is such a diverse and delicious restaurant scene. From sushi to steak, Nashville has you covered. You can find so many different flavors here that you don't even have to leave your home state!

Some popular restaurants in Nashville are Peter's Sushi, The Catfish House, and Monell's. Peter's Sushi offers sushi and seafood that people just can't get enough of. The Catfish House has some great homestyle cooking with the freshest catfish. Monell's is known for its breakfast and is the perfect place to go on a lazy Sunday morning.

Nashville is home to many different food festivals that allow you to explore your tastebuds and try something new. One of the more popular food festivals is the Pancake Festival. This festival has not only delicious pancakes, but also a ton of arts and crafts. There are multiple vendors selling souvenirs and local street performers to keep things entertaining.

If you're on the lookout for something more active, then you should consider going to Hot Chicken Fest. While this sounds like it wouldn't make sense with Nashville's chilly weather, Hot Chicken Fest is actually held in the summer months! This fest lets you enjoy Nashville's famous hot chicken with all sorts of sides and desserts. You'll walk away from this fest feeling satisfied- not to mention a bit spicy.

The most interesting food festival has to be the Bacon and Barrell Festival which is held every year in the fall. This event is definitely one you don't want to miss out on! With over 50 different vendors participating, you'll surely find some amazing bacon-y treats. From bacon ice cream to banana covered in bacon, you'll never run out of ways to enjoy bacon!

For the Education

The Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) is also an important factor in deciding to move to Nashville. The MNPS is the largest school district in the state of Tennessee and it is both public and charter schools. The MNPS serves more than 100,000 students with a wide variety of programs and subjects. This allows for students of all backgrounds to get the best possible education tailored to their needs.

Nashville, TN is also home to the Vanderbilt University as well as Tennessee State University. These two institutions offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees in everything from engineering to medicine, music, social work, and many other fields. The state of Tennessee also offers a partial tuition waiver for state residents who attend these schools. It is an excellent opportunity for potential business leaders or educators to advance their professional careers by earning an advanced degree at one of these top-notch universities.

For the Recreation Opportunities

Nashville is full of parks, green spaces, and outdoor activities. There is a huge variety within the city's parks. While some are more traditional with playgrounds and picnic areas, others have sports courts or water features. Some of the better-known parks include Centennial Park (home to the Parthenon), Shelby Park, Radnor Lake State Park, Edwin Warner Park (with its extensive network of trails), and Fort Nashborough. Also, being near all four mountains in the Tennessee system makes it a very outdoorsy city with many nearby hiking and climbing spots.

Nashville is a great place to live because of all the opportunities for entertainment, education and recreation. With its welcoming atmosphere and emphasis on family values, Nashville has something to offer everyone!
