Thanks for the response, I have visited that link and read through it a few times already (along with their FAQs site) but it didnt provide me with any solution for fixing the issue. I guess I will have to provide with the protest. How do I go about requesting the Comp from you? I tried going through you link but my address was not listed. Should I just select a nearby address? Thanks.
Here is an explanation from HCAD about the Homestead cap. https://hcad.org/videos/the-10-homestead-cap/ I hope this helps and if you would like me to send you a comparative market analysis of your home, just let me know.
Mine is outrageously high. Does anyone have details about the homestead cap? Im in my second year but my appraised value has increased by 34%. I thought the homestead cap only allows Harris County to increase it by only 10%? I tried calling HCAD and they said that I will need to protest to get it fixed. I dont understand why if the rule says it cant increase over 10%, if it is their mistake then they should be able to correct it. Has anyone had experience with HCAD going over the homestead cap? Thanks.
