Well,  I am here to tell you that everyone needs to take a vacation every single year at least!  We haven't had one in 3 years and our outlook, production and zest for life was showing it.  So, we took off for two weeks and have re-claimed our zest.

I tell everyone that we have no real control over our lives and we're kidding ourselves if we think we do.  Just to prove it...we left our slip in Clear Lake on a beautiful Sunday morning two weeks ago and 10 minutes into our "cruise" to Port Aransas we had an impeller blow out.  So, we limped over to a rickety old dock and spent the first hour of our "cruise" tied to this dock while my husband and son in law went down into the engine room and replaced the impeller.  Everything looked good and we're off again on the first leg of our trip with Harborwalk Marina to be our first overnight stay.  Well...like I said...God has a wicked sense of humor sometimes and we discovered a leak in the shaft of the impeller that was just replaced.

Fast forward 4 days later and we're finally getting the replacement part installed.  No sense going further on the trip because we have a trawler and she doesn't go fast and we're using up a lot of days on repairs.  Harborwalk is looking really good now.  We have a beautiful pool, tiki bar, restaurant and great neighbors. What more can you ask for on a "cruise"?

The finish to this story is we spent a week at Harborwalk and a week at Moody Gardens...in Offatts Bayou where I learned to water ski as a kid.  Went by my old home and found it boarded up because of flooding from Ike and it will need to be raised to satisfy the insurance people.  Probably won't happen.  That was a very emotional afternoon.

We're back at work now and have a bright, new outlook about a lot of things.  So, give yourself a gift...take a vacation.  It's incredible how much it changes your perspective.  At least it worked that way for us.

God Bless.  It's a great life!
