Do you know what fun activities your city has put together just for your entertainment in these times of quarantine? If you are like me, your answer would be no.
Today we were trying to think of ideas to get outside and get moving. Yes, I know it is close to 100 degrees outside, but I have three small children. We have to get out and have adventures. Our first thought was to hike a trail that is completely shaded. The temperature drops at least 10 degrees. Winning! But do you know what increases? Mosquitoes that have morphed into ninja warrior pterodactyls. We lasted 5 minutes before we became their lunch. We even soaked ourselves in bug spray beforehand.
For the last couple of weeks we had begun our own scavenger hunt around Pearland to try to find all the painted pears. So, we decided to ditch the trails and look for more pears. We stumbled upon four beautiful painted pears. As we were taking pictures in front of them, my Micah found a painted rock. On the back of it was a note that said this rock is part of the Pearland rock hunt and to post our pictures. We were all so excited! A rock hunt! Yay! We were hunting pears. Now we are hunting rocks?!?! I was thinking there would be just one at this destination, but we ended up finding 6. Every find made all the kids jump up and down. It was one of those unexpected adventures you thank God for and the kids thank you.
After returning home, I did some research and found a link to the Facebook rock hunt page. It gives clues and people post pictures. I also found a link that allows you to download an app called GooseChase app . It hosts a “Pearland’s Adventure Hunt” for people in quarantine and families at home with children. In my reasearch, I also found out that hunting the painted Pears is an actual thing. Who knew? I thought I was the creative genius. Pearland has set up a scavenger hunt with clues. So fun!
I have to say, after today this Realtor is proud of the city she lives in a whole new way. Pearland, I want to thank you for caring about or kids and giving us fun adventures that are meant to provide a different type of fun in a different type of summer.
