Horn Elementary has 846 students, PK to grade 5 and a student/teacher ratio of 17:1. All teachers are full-time and certified. Students may be eligible for Horn's Vanguard Neighborhood program for gifted/talented individuals and have access to a variety of extracurricular activities like Odyssey of the Mind and the Name that Book challenge. Wharton Dual Language Academy (1101 Taft Street, Houston, 77019)

The Wharton Dual Language Academy is a magnet school for PK through grade 8 with approximately 500 students and student to teacher ratio of 17:1. It receives a 10/10 GreatSchools rating. This elementary school offers a full immersion program for Spanish and English, with the lower grades receiving the majority of their classroom instruction in Spanish. Every year, English in the classroom increases by 10-percent, until a balance of 50-percent Spanish/English is reached in grade 4.
