The Holidays Are a Great Time to Buy a House
Spending money and the holidays go hand in hand. But have you ever thought that the holiday season is an excellent time to buy a house? There are several reasons why this is the one of the best seasons to get a great deal on the biggest purchase you are likely to make.
First, there is less competition. Since this is typically a slower season for the housing market, you are less likely to get into a bidding war on the house you just fell in love with. Your bargaining power just increased!
In addition, the banks and mortgage companies are slower than they are during the summer, so your loan will move through the process more quickly, enabling you to enjoy your new home before the end of the year.
You will also qualify for the homestead exemption on your property taxes if you close by December 31st and will live in the house. This can add up to substantial savings.
Right now, interest rates are still incredibly low, which gives you even more buying power.
