A little organization goes along way.  I started this year by finally organizing my pantry.  I mean after all we have only lived in this house for 26 years.   Now I can only ask why I waited so long!  With a little effort on everyone’s part it stills looks almost as it did the first day.

  1. Empty. Remove everything from the pantry and start with a blank slate.
  2.  Purge.  Throw out any expired or visible unsafe items, collect any items you no longer want.
  3. Storage Containers.  Use a variety of different items,  a visit to a kitchen store convinced me that a few items designed for kitchen organization, were actually worth purchasing. Especially for my can goods and spices.  I think I own every spice there is.
  4.  Keep an eye out for Sales.  Use your imagination, use a mix of plastic containers with pourable lids, baskets, magazine holders and small risers.  Don’t forget to check the dollar store and thrift shops.
  5. Label, label, label. Labeling is a fun touch that not only makes your pantry look organized, but also encourages everyone to put back items where they belong.
  6. Maximize your space with risers. Great for can goods and spices, also helps items from getting buried in the back.
  7. Put the least used stuff on the highest shelf.  Also a good place to keep  some items out of reach of little hands.
  8. Buy only what your Pantry holds.
  9. Maximize dead space.  Don’t forget to use the floor.  Great place to store extra drinks (cases of water).
  10. Carve Out New Space.  Hang measuring cups and sp0ons on the back of a cabinet door, Use dividers in drawers to better utilize space.

By implementing some of the options listed above, you can take charge of the organization of your food storage in order in streamline and simplify.

Time to make your grocery lists, it is quick and easy to see what your out of.
