When General Sam Houston moved to Huntsville, he acquired 233.5 acres of land and used much of it for farming. From an orchard to a potato patch, growing and cultivating, food was an important part of life.
The colors of East TX are amazing!! Ya gotta come, y'all 
Sam Houston Museum staff members will be out in the garden down by the Woodland Home, ready to show you around.
They will also give you the opportunity to get your hands dirty.
Be sure to bring gloves and be prepared to have a good time.
