Hi Friend,

Amazing Italian food and reasonably priced wine? Sign me up! I can not believe this is a new concept- at least new to Houston and its surrounding areas. Today, I am sharing a new featured restaurant that recently came to the The Woodlands called Porta Vino (meaning bring wine).

Restaurant owner Bill Floyd opened his first BYO wine restaurant in 2020 in Houston Heights. He anticipated the concept to have a strong fan-base but he never expected the demand for a casual Italian dining concept. The restaurant serves up amazing Italian dishes and offers a bring your own bottle concept allowing the customer to bring in their favorites, with a small 12 corking fee. This pales in comparison to the typical 2-3 time markup diners typically have to pay in a restaurant. Porta Vino also has a generous selection of wine and beer options that are reasonably priced.

Despite the pandemic, Houston residents still hurried to the restaurant, which hit capacity almost daily. The Houston restaurant location now does about 300 covers a night and is typically booked three week in advance.

Porta Vino’s has the perfect combination of a very welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. Their menu consists of shareables, green stuff (salads) , pizza, pasta, main courses and sweets. Some of their raved about menu items based on reviews include the Polpette (house-made meatballs topped with a splash of spicy marinara and sprinkled with pecorino), butternut squash ravioli, and the spinach & artichoke pizza. For dessert, try their #1 best seller, the coconut cream pie or their “Milkshake No Minors” which is an adult milkshake served with fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies.

If dining in, you can choose to sit in the cool and airy interior or outside on their spacious patio during the warmer months. Parking is plentiful so there is no worry of finding a spot. Porta Vino is such a great addition to the Grogan’s Mill/ Town Center area of The Woodlands and it has tapped into a market that I am not sure anyone thought of but everyone is sure to love. The fun and energetic spot is the perfect place to enjoy a light (or heavy) Italian meal and bottle of wine.

Find Porta Vino at: 207 E. Shore Dr #130 The Woodlands, Texas 77380 Menu

Thank you for reading my restaurant spotlight! I look forward to hearing from you if you visit and be sure to let me know what amazing dishes you decide to try.

With love, Jo
