General Description

Originally built in 1935, the Kavanaugh House has been completely rehabilitated while still preserving the Craftsman charm of its original character. Within the past eight months, the house has received all new plumbing, electric, AC/Heat central air, a new roof, a new foundation, and all new appliances still under warranty. The kitchen and bathroom have both been completely updated with new tile, custom cabinetry, and lighting fixtures. The house still maintains all its original Craftsman architecture including original oak floors, windows, trim, and built-in bookshelves. Originally located at 314 12th Street, the Kavanaugh House was built in September 1935 by Floyd J. Kavanaugh to use as tenant property. Kavanaugh owned Floyd Kavanaugh & Company, purveyors of typewriters, adding machines and office supplies. The first tenant, recorded in the 1936 city directory was one of Kavanaugh’s employees, John H. Anderson.
