by James McClister

Shanita-Holloway

Shanita Holloway is a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Greater Northwest working in Spring, Cypress and Humble.

What was your first job in the realty industry? My job in the realty industry was becoming a residential real estate agent, joining forces with Keller Williams Realty Greater Northwest.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I pray and go roller skating when I am stressed and need to relax. It is very therapeutic for me.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in New Jersey and after a weekend trip to Houston, within months I made Houston my home. I haven’t looked back since.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Growing up, I knew I would either be in the real estate, entertainment or sports industry. With my dad being in comedy and my late grandmother being a poet, I loved art and talent. We all know land up north is scarce, and I always had to drive out to see the really luxury spacious homes. I always had a love for real estate, even before I knew what it was.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? If I could have lunch with a well-known figure it would P. Diddy. From the beginning, he has always seemed to be very strategic and wise. I would love to ask him questions and ask how he managed to overcome roadblocks.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My favorite place to hang out would be Route 22 skating rink back in Union, N.J.

What do you love most about the industry? What I love most about the industry is the uniqueness of every client, property and circumstances. I love everything about the industry to be honest.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I distinguish myself from the crowd of agents by focusing on my sincerity and genuine interest in regards to the property and my clients. I do this not only for the money but for the smiles and for what it allows me to do for my family and my community.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The most difficult aspect of my job is the fact that I am a new agent. So seasoned agents who you’d think might show you the ropes, almost shy away from you. While others burst for the opportunity to be a blessing to the new agents like myself. As a new agent, it’s gaining rapport and trust from a client, and I really can’t even say it’s difficult but it is a challenge that I am up for.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I network everywhere – the grocery store, networking functions, meeting the sales managers at the model homes, hosting open houses, attending seminars, classes, parties, comedy shows. Did I mention everywhere?

What has been you greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is fulfilling my dream of becoming a real estate agent. I marked my calendar and got it done.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The movie The last good book I read was “Cash Flow Quadrants” by Robert Kiyosaki.

What is your favorite restaurant? My favorite restaurant is Pappadeauxs.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston? The Williams Tower is my favorite building in Houston. When I first moved to Houston that was my landmark and always helped me get closer to home.

What kind of car do you drive? I currently drive a Chevy Equinox 2010.

Smartphone or paper? I prefer paper but the smartphone is of course more efficient and saves trees.

What is your favorite city after Houston? My favorite city after Houston is Manhattan (NYC).

What is your advice for someone new to the industry? Believe in yourself, gain confidence through experience and studying, and never give up – every mistake is a lesson. Be. Do. Have.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? MY KW APP is my favorite real estate app: http://app.kw.com/KWTZ9RI

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? My favorite people to follow on Twitter are Warren Buffet, Great Scott Mckenzie, Rev Run, Tyrese and P Diddy.
