You don't necessarily need a lawyer. There are several property tax consulting firms that will do an Arbitration for you. It costs $500 to file an arbitration, if you when the state will refund $450 to you and if you loose they keep the $500. A property tax consultant can review your case & let you know if they believe it is in your best interest to go through binding arbitration.
If you disagree with the ARB you can file an arbitration. The instructions will be mailed to you with the ARB's decision. You don't have to have an attorney to go to arbitration. The arbitration process isn't difficult, just make sure you have facts to present at arbitration. I have been an arbitrator for years and the best advice I can give you is to have all of your information in an easy to read format. Make sure you have photos, maps, comps, etc. to back up your value. The state has instructions on their website along with videos on how to prepare for the arbitration (all of this info should be included in your instructions that you will get in the mail). I've included a link for you with a lot of useful information. Good luck!
Unfortunately this forum does not allow us to go back and forth in a discussion format. I'm going to need some more information about your situation in order to refer you in the right direction. Since I won't be able to respond back to any additional comments you may provide on your side emailing would work great.
Am I understanding your statement correctly that you are in need of a lawyer in regards to your property taxes based on the counties assessed value? I'm assuming you feel strongly that your property has been over valued by the county?
I ask since my husband and I own a residential appraisal company in the Houston area and may be of service. A realtor can also put together a CMA for you as well.
Also, I can recommend a real estate attorney in your area.
If we can assist in any way please don't hesitate to call or email!
