How to Properly Switch Brokers.

I am about to switch brokerage firms in the next 2 weeks. I was told to go to trek and request sponsorship, but can't find a form or link to do this. What is the process of changing brokers on good terms?

The SALES AGENT SPONSORSHIP FORM-1 form has been updated as of June 6th, 2016 from the SF1-2 to the SF1-3

Excellent answers above to your main question. I think you'll get a lot of value of speaking with other agents who are sponsored by your potential broker. You want to make sure it's a good fit for you before making the move. All brokers operate differently. It's kind of like a marriage and you don't want to go through too many of them! Best of luck at your new brokerage!

You have gotten some of the best answers from the previous agents. Also, one of the first things that I would think helpful is speaking with the Broker or Office Manager for the firm you want to transfer to. That person should be able to guide you through the process without you to wonder if you are proceeding correctly. And they would probably advise you to notify your present Broker/Office Manager as well.

I just switched brokers. You can find the form on the TREC Website. Make sure you let your current broker know in writing. You submit $40 with your TREC form. Your new broker has to sign the form. http://www.trec.state.tx.us/pdf/forms/real-est/SF1-2.pdf is the form you need.

Hi Amanda,

Best of luck with your switch!

I would recommend talking with the supervisor at your brokerage (or team leader if you have one) just to give them a heads up about your switch. I'm sure they would appreciate the feedback relating to the reason you decided to go with another brokerage.

In order to switch your license to another broker go to
www.trec.state.tx.us and click on the button that says "My License Online Services." Scroll all the way to the bottom to login. From there you can switch your license to another broker.

Hope this helps!

From the TREC website home page click on the yellow oval at the very top of the page, "My Online License Services". You can manage your license status and change brokers online easily.
If you are a first time user of the TREC Online Service, you will have to up your account first. It's easy and takes just a few minutes.
Here's a link to the information page about online services. At the bottom of this page is the yellow oval clickable link to get started,

On the TREC website:
Go to Licenses: Apply/Renew tab
Click on Applications & Other License Forms under Applications, Requirements on the left side of the page
Scroll down to the form (I believe you need is) SF1-2.

Good Luck at your new company!
