Hi Cicely,
Since this post is several months old, you may already have an answer. If not, however, I'd like to help. Are you wanting to rent or buy? If you are looking to buy a home, and you, or your significant other, are a veteran, the VA home loan has a 0% down payment. There are other closing costs up front, but the down payment can be $0 if you choose. Please contact me, if I may be of assistance.

Dear Cicely,

Properties with No Deposit or small deposits are few while exist and can be searched in our MLS system. You can contact a realtor to find you the ones that are suitable for your other criteria.

I agree with Michael. The deposit is to cover any damages to property and other considerations. FEMA if approved for housing is providing transitional housing such as a shelter and from that a hotel or motel for up to 30 days. FEMA number is 800-621-3362. It is best to apply online. Once you have applied FEMA will also provide you with a list for additional services. Depending on your situation you may be referred to SBA disaster assistance. I hope this helps

Hi Cicely,

If you have not already registered with FEMA at DisasterAssistance.gov, you should first thing. They are a resource for helping with temporary housing. You can either do this online or at the GRB or the shelter at Reliant Stadium. Next if you need to look for low income housing, you need to contact the housing authority. There was already a long waiting list for housing before the storm hit, so getting on the list is key. Another option is to look at apartments.com and see what they have. They may have apartments that require little or no deposit we as agents cannot see in MLS.

I hope the 3 resources are of help.
