Hello HAR I was wondering what the standard cost is for a basic inspection?

The cost can very greatly! What are you inspecting? If looking at the AC, it might be $100 or less. Full home inspection including mold, sewer lines, lead based paint, intrusive stucco, etc can go well north of $2,000. Most seasoned Realtors will have a list of local, experienced and Texas licensed inspectors to call and get a quote for services. Typical home inspection with not too many extras run in the $400 to $800 range typically.
Always ask how long it will take to get the inspection back, how the process works, do they come back to re-inspect if repairs are done later, etc. The inspectors will likely want to know the age of the home, sqft of the interior and if there are other items to inspect like a pool? Keep in mind you want to have inspections completely early on during the option period noted on the last page of the earnest money contract. And don't forget to inspect during the building process of a new construction home.

It will all depend on the type of inspection you or your lender may require. I would suggest to contact 2-3 inspection companies to get estimates and make a desition. The price will depend on the type, size and age of the home, etc.
It is always important to work close to your realtor as well. He/she should be a resourse to you.

It really depends on the type of inspection you are obtaining, the type of home (pier and beam or slab), size of home (over 5,000sf), etc.

A general inspection can range from $325-500, terminate inspection from $100-150, pool inspection between $150-250, structural engineer can be $750+, HVAC can be $100+ per system, etc.
