How do I get my Security Deposit Back?
1,270Listing Agent in Houston, TX Trick me to Pay Security Deposit before signing a Lease Contract. When I saw the Lease contract, It had many illegal clauses and it was not a Texas Lease instead California Owner provided Lease. I refused to sign and demand changes but declined by Listing Agent and Owner. I asked to Refund my Security Deposit. They gave me answer your deposit is fortified because we took the property off the market. This was untrue Property was never taken off the market. Please help me recover my money.

You need to speak to the listing agent broker and also report this to the Texas real estate commission. I hope you are able to resolve this issue!

Always make sure you have someone representing your interests. The Managing broker is the first point of contact. I would call and send a certified letter requesting return of security deposit with a note that you will be going to the Texas Real Estate Commission if not resolved.

Please reach out to the listing agent's broker in this situation and next time PLEASE hire a realtor to represent your best interests in a transaction!!

You should reach out to the listing agent's broker and if you can't get anywhere with the broker reach out to the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC).
