HOUSTON ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® IMPLEMENTS NEW MICROSOFT TAG TECHNOLOGY, PROVIDING INSTANT ACCESS TO ONLINE RESOURCES
HOUSTON — (June 8, 2010) — The Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR), recognized for its pioneering use of new technologies that benefit the real estate professional and consumer alike, has adopted Microsoft Tag—an interactive technology that provides instant access to websites, videos and online information by scanning printed tags with a mobile device.
The Tags made their first appearance in the June 2010 edition of HAR’s monthly Houston REALTOR® magazine, linking the publication’s more than 27,000 readers to online content within the Association’s renowned HAR.com website. Tags are also being printed on the business cards of HAR staff which will provide seamless access to online information about the Association’s various departments. HAR is investigating other possible uses, including event promotions, printable property listing flyers and other collateral.
“We’re excited that the Houston Association of REALTORS® is using Tag to engage with customers at a deeper level,” said Bill McQuain, director of Tag Product Management at Microsoft Corp. “Microsoft Tag makes the world around you clickable, and now with the scan of Tag from HAR, users will get a rich interactive brand experience.”
“HAR always seeks the most innovative ways to enable its members to conduct business more efficiently and to provide consumers with access to the most comprehensive real estate information possible, and implementing Microsoft Tags is a natural extension of that innovation,” said HAR Chair Margie Dorrance.
The Tags are about the size of a postage stamp and contain a multi-colored digital pattern. The Tag-reading application may be downloaded for free at http://gettag.mobi.
