Tiffany Curry is 2011 REALTOR® of the Year; Cindy Hamann is 2011 John E. Wolf
Citizenship Cup Award recipient
HOUSTON — (December 22, 2011) — The Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) recently honored Tiffany Curry, with Prudential Gary Greene, REALTORS® - Inner Loop, as 2011 REALTOR® of the Year and Cindy Hamann, VP and branch manager for Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS®’ The Woodlands office, as recipient of the 2011 John E. Wolf Citizenship Cup Award.
With its REALTOR® of the Year designation, HAR honors an Association member who most embodies the dedication and professionalism emblematic of today’s REALTOR®. The John E. Wolf Citizenship Cup Award is presented each year to an HAR member that makes an outstanding contribution to the community, primarily outside the scope of the real estate industry. Criteria for the award include leadership and service in charitable organizations, service organizations and special service organizations.
A native Houstonian, Tiffany Curry is a market savvy real estate professional dedicated to her clients’ success. She is known for her contagious passion for real estate and possesses a wealth of knowledge about competitively marketing and selling homes in all price ranges.
Curry is among fewer than 1,200 REALTORS® in the state of Texas to hold the Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) designation for agents who have undergone extensive training in real estate negotiations. A relocation specialist, she holds all three relocation certifications in Destination Services for buyers as well as Marketing Assistance and Relocation Inventory for sellers.
In 2010, Curry was selected as one of HAR’s Nextgen REALTOR® Group's (NRG’s) inaugural 20 under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate, recognizing young professionals who have shown excellence in sales, leadership and the community.
Curry is an active member of the National, Texas and Houston Associations of REALTORS® She currently serves on the board of directors for the Houston and Texas Associations. She has also been president of the Houston Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® and 2011 Chair of HAR’s Young Professionals Network—NRG—in addition to serving on NAR’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) and Communications Committee.
“Winning HAR’s REALTOR® of the Year honor is one of the most defining moments of my career,” said Curry. “HAR is one of the best Associations in the nation, and it’s an incredible privilege to receive this recognition from my peers.”
Curry is a firm believer in paying it forward. “A community cannot flourish without the support of the people in it,” she noted. “It’s great to receive, however it’s more important to give.”
Added Curry: “My favorite thing about working in real estate is that every day is different—you never know who you are going to meet and what the day will hold. I love trying new things and helping people, real estate gives me the best of those two things. Seeing the emotion of my client’s and their family when they receive the keys to their new home brings on an amazing feeling to be a part of their American Dream.”
When she's not working, Curry enjoys water sports, golf, tennis and spending time with her friends and family. She is an active volunteer with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Houston SPCA and ReBuilding Together Houston.
Cindy Hamann, who has won several real estate awards and honors throughout the years, attributes her successful career to a loving, supportive family and a very loyal group of agents and staff who are committed to their clients. She has participated on various HAR committees and serves on the HAR board of directors for 2011-2012. Hamann recently completed the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program (TRLP), an intensive nine-month program, and she is a licensed broker.
Hamann’s greatest personal achievements have been those centered on helping others. She is a major supporter of the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, serving as president in 2009 and on the board of directors for two years. As chairperson for the Foundation’s Charity Golf Tournament, she has helped raise more than $30,000 each year. Hamann also participates in the organization’s Camp for All program as a camp counselor, spending one weekend each year helping families enjoy a short break from their cancer battles.
In addition, Hamann engages her staff and agents in support of the Montgomery County Food Bank and the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer. Each year at Christmas, her office adopts two families who are struggling financially due to costly cancer care and treats them to a full Christmas experience—from gifts for each family member to money, food and decorations—whatever their needs might be.
If that were not enough, Hamann adds another dimension to giving. She purchases blankets and food for Houston’s homeless and spends Christmas Eve driving downtown in search of those needing a little Christmas spirit. Hamann started this personal crusade more than eight years ago and has made it a goal to increase the number of donated packages each year.
“I am so honored to receive an award that is associated with community involvement,” said Hamann. “Being raised by a single mother with three children, times were really hard. If it hadn’t been for those people in our community, I don’t know how my mother would have done it. I hope that this recognition makes more individuals aware that there are so many families in need. I also hope that I can influence others to reach out and help those in their communities.”
Hamann is the first to acknowledge that her greatest personal achievement has been raising her three children – Daniel, 26, Dustin, 21, and Dayna, 19.
Curry and Hamann received their honors on December 14 during swearing-in ceremonies for the 2012 HAR board of directors.
