About Me

Since 1972, Broker Associate Jamie Newton Barrere has continuously been one of Houston’s most successful residential real estate professionals. As founding broker/president of Barrere & Co., Realtors®, she developed the firm into a top Houston residential and commercial real estate brokerage. In 1996, Jamie sold her company to Zarr & Co., Realtors, adding her vast experience in the Houston market to this premiere residential real estate company. Zarr merged with House Hunters, Inc in 1999 to become Heritage Texas Properties, the largest independent residential firm in Houston, and Jamie continued to manage the company’s world-wide relocation business.

Jamie has an established reputation for successfully relocating corporate transferees and medical, legal and business professionals; many of her clients have sought her assistance with multiple moves. A sampling of the companies and organizations whose executives and employees she has worked with include:

American Red Cross, Anadarko Petroleum, The Bank of River Oaks, Baylor College of Medicine, Bracewell & Giuliani LLP, Chase Bank, Chevron Corporation, Citgo, The Coca Cola Company, Compaq, Continental Airlines, ConocoPhillips, Daniels, DuPont, El Paso Corporation, ExxonMobil, Frito Lay, Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, General Motors, Halliburton, Hess Corporation, KBR, The Kinkaid School, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Hermann, Physicians Relocation Services, Santa Fe Energy Trust, Shell, Tenneco, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, University of Texas Medical Branch, and Xerox

In 2002, Jamie relinquished her responsibilities to the relocation department so that she could become fully involved in sales transactions for her friends, former clients and referrals. While she continues to maintain her special relocation and corporate contacts, she now spends 100% of her time doing what she loves and has done so successfully for over 30 years - selling homes.
Jamie assists buyers and sellers in virtually all of Houston’s best-known neighborhoods inside and outside Loop 610, as well as suburban, master-planned communities, and rural acreage.

Not only has Jamie taught accredited real estate courses locally, she has shared her knowledge by speaking on numerous Realtor panels nationally. Her designations include the Accredited Relocation Coordinator (ARC), Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI) and, while operating Barrere & Co., she attained her Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) designation. As a top professional in her field, Jamie has been honored by Who’s Who in Houston Residential Real Estate, Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who in America. She has served as vice president of the Houston Association of Realtors, director of the Texas Association, and on the Equal Opportunity Committee of the National Association of Realtors.

Jamie is also a leader in the community, supporting some of Houston’s most treasured institutions, including the Salvation Army, Covenant House, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Greater Houston Partnership. Jamie is very active in St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, the Tanglewood Garden Club, and the DAR. She is a past president of the Houston area Tri Delta Alumnae, a past president of The Tri Delta Art Show for Charity. past Regent of her DAR chapter, and a member of the Vanderbilt Parents Leadership Committee.
