It is moved and seconded to recommend
to HAR members support for incumbent Republican Fort Bend County Clerk
Dianne Wilson in her reelection to a seventh term of office. The Fort Bend
Political Affairs Advisory Leadership recommends a TREPAC contribution
in the amount of $1,000 to demonstrate Realtor support for County Clerk
Dianne Wilson and to assist with her campaign debts from her March 7, 2006,
Primary election.
Rationale: Fort Bend County Clerk Dianne Wilson has
been a friendly incumbent to the Fort Bend real estate community since
being elected to office in 1982. Ms. Wilson is currently running unopposed
in the November 7 general election having won her primary contest with
69.7% of the vote. County Clerk Wilson talked with Sherrie Fontenot,
Fort Bend PAAL Chair, the night of the primary election and discussed
her campaign and continued support of the real estate community. Ms.
Wilson has been instrumental in the streamlining and updating of the
Fort Bend County records including making it an online system which
has increased accuracy and accessibility. HAR supported Dianne in her
2002 election, but did not make a TREPAC contribution recommendation
at that time.
TREPAC
Denim & Diamonds sparkled its way to success on March 23!
With the tremendous efforts of Committee Chair Jo Ann Stevens
with R. G. Omega Realty, Marti Pattinson with Locations Realty,
Ft. Bend PAALS Chair Sherrie Fontenot with RE/MAX Fine Properties,
Nancy Marcis and Nancy Lefler with Prudential Gary Greene, REALTORS
and the strong Denim & Diamonds Committee we set a TREPAC
record and raised $25,000 that evening. The fun-filled event
was enjoyed by everyone who attended especially those that got
to show off their bedazzled and bejeweled 2006 TREPAC Denim jackets.
Montgomery County has also been very active. At the April
5 Area Networking Breakfast, TREPAC Trustee Mario Arriaga made a short
presentation utilizing our What Did TREPAC Save You? worksheets. Additional "cheat
sheets" with precalculated answers were also provided and it proved
to be a very effective fundraising tool. We raised over $7900 at breakfast
that morning.
Golf Tournaments Update: Both the Bay Area and Montgomery County Golf
Tournaments have been cancelled. We have decided to focus our fundraising
efforts in other areas and did not feel that the golf tournaments were
headed in the right direction.
