Kenya Burrell-VanWormer
Chair of the Board
Houston Association of REALTORS®

Kenya Burrell-VanWormer is a distinguished real estate professional with more than 16 years in the industry. Her experience ranges from new home construction, sales and marketing, to management, with clients from around the world, thanks to the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation she earned in Paris, France in 2006. She currently serves as Affordable Lending Relationship Manager with JP Morgan Chase in Houston.

Kenya is a sixth generation Texan and native Houstonian. Her top-producing achievements earned her honors as the Houston Association of REALTORS®’ (HAR) 2009 REALTOR® of the Year. In 2012, Kenya was among the recipients of the HAR Young Professionals Network 20 Under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate Awards, honoring HAR members age 40 and younger for excellence in sales, leadership and community service.

Over the years, Kenya has been featured dozens of times as a real estate market expert representing HAR during interviews by all of the major Houston broadcast news outlets as well as the Houston Chronicle, Houston Business Journal and community newspapers.

For most of her career, Kenya has been actively involved in the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee (TREPAC) because of her strong support of private property rights protection and her advocacy for better public policies. She was HAR TREPAC chair in 2009, and in 2015, served as Texas Association of REALTORS® (TAR) TREPAC chair. Kenya has also lent her services to the Houston chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR), which honored her as Affiliate Member of the Year in 2007.

Kenya’s other commitments to TAR have included 2013 Member Benefits chair and 2017 Public Policy vice chair. She was also a 2016 National Association of REALTORS®(NAR) REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Hall of Fame investor.

As an active member of the greater Houston community, Kenya is involved in supporting the arts, and has served on the board of directors for the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts Houston, volunteers in local schools and is involved in numerous civic and political activities.

Kenya lives with her husband, Kurt, and daughter, Kate, on Houston’s north side.

We are greatly honored to welcome Kenya Burrell-VanWormer as HAR’s 2018 Chair of the Board.
