1991 HAR CHAIRMAN JOHN NICHOLS RECEIVES NATIONAL HONOR FOR POLITICAL SERVICE

Washington, D.C.—(May 16, 2017)—The Texas Association of Realtors (TAR) has announced that TAR Past President John Nichols, owner of Nichols Realty in Magnolia, received the 2017 Federal Political Coordinator Meritorious Service Award from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Nichols served as chairman of the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) in 1991.

Nichols received the recognition for his years of service as NAR’s Federal Political Coordinator (FPC) for Texas Congressman John Culberson, who represents Texas’ 7th Congressional District.

“John exemplifies the vital role FPCs play in keeping our Congress members informed on critical real estate issues,” said TAR Chairman Vicki Fullerton. “He has dedicated his life to selfless service and grassroots advocacy, and I’m proud to have called him a colleague and, more importantly, a friend for more than 25 years.”

Culberson himself congratulated Nichols on the achievement.

“John Nichols has earned this award because of his impeccable integrity and enormous generosity, immense knowledge about the Houston real estate market, and dedication to Houston area Realtors,” said Culberson. “John always keeps his word and is respected by everyone that knows him. I sincerely congratulate John on this much deserved honor.”

NAR President William E. Brown presented Nichols with the award at the 2017 Realtors Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, May 16.

“One of the most important assets we have as Realtors is the ability to make our voices heard at the local, state and federal level,” said Brown. “John Nichols has shown again and again that Realtors are leaders for their communities on the issues that matter most, and I congratulate him on this well-deserved award.”

An FPC since 2002, Nichols has made industry service a priority throughout his career, serving as 1991 HAR chairman and 1997 TAR president.
