Hurricane Harvey Recovery

Posted by Gregory Sanders
Folks, I'm seeing a lot of people offering a quick fix to your water damage restoration. This isn't a leaky pipe, this is bacterial waters that entered the home. Anything touched with the water is contaminated. If you touch and remove anything from the house, you are contaminated too, anything you now touch is contaminated. The walls, your clothes, your shoes and where you walk, etc. Mold spores can grow fast. But when you demo the property down to the studs, don't forget the contaminated studs, between the stud and floor, the concrete floor itself. How about under the bathtub, behind the wall tile, under the toilet, the vanities and kitchen cabinets, inside the water heater has been affected, in and around the fireplace, behind the steps and risers, and electrical (outlets, boxes, wiring). If you are doing a quick DIY fix and repair, you may be wasting your time and money if you don't do it the proper way. Remember there is a paper trail that leads to your name, don't let it come back to bite you. Do it right the first time and help keep your property values up.
