HOUSTON, TX – Should you stage your Houston Texas Home before listing it? The answer to this question is YES. Staging should be a necessity for any home, regardless if it’s been decorated or not because staging will help you to present your home in the best possible way and accentuate all of the features and advantages that your house offers.

Before Staging Make Sure You Declutter

One of the first things to do before listing your Houston Texas Home is to de-clutter your house one room at a time, creating piles in each room for items that you want to keep, donate and throw away. Items that you want to keep should be placed in boxes and those boxes should be placed neatly in your garage or a nearby storage facility.

The goal with de-cluttering is to remove as many items from each room as possible, especially big pieces of furniture like an entertainment center, sectional sofa or large dining room table because using smaller pieces of furniture will help to make smaller spaces “feel” bigger and trigger the imagination of buyers when they see that your home offers them more space or square footage than you thought.

Highlight Your Homes Unique Features

During the process of staging your Houston Texas Home to sell you should use staging to highlight the unique features that your home has to offer.

For example:

  • Granite Counter Tops – Remove bills and the usual clutter that you might have on your counter tops and replace with a vase filled with flowers or a serving tray with a teapot, tea cups, and spoons.
  • Under The Stairs – If your home has an unused area under the stairs you should add a small writing desk or a small café table with chairs to create a “conversation area”.
  • Makes Sure Rooms Are Decorated Symmetrically – When staging the rooms in your home make sure that each room is decorated with symmetric in mind because a home that’s symmetrically pleasing will be more peaceful and restful to buyers.
  • Scale Back Your Personal Style – You may love “shabby chic” but you have to remember that your style will only appeal to a small percentage of buyers so during the time that your home is for sale you should focus on having a uniform style that will appeal to all buyers instead of a select few.
