A few weeks ago I was doing a spot of gardening at the front of the house when a neighbour popped over and asked if I wanted any lemons. They had a tree they were cutting down at the back of their house. “Sure!” I said, enthusiastically.
“They’re not your usual lemons”, she warned, “they’re Texas lemons, much larger than your average lemon.”
“I guess no surprise there!” I joked.
A few minutes later she walked over clutching two enormous melons - I figured I must have misheard her.
“Here you are. Texas lemons!” she announced as she handed them to me.
She brought me another one later in the week, even bigger than the first two!
Crikey I thought, if the lemons in Texas are this size (see photo), how big are the melons?!
