Designers and Builders revealed some of the top trends for 2015, and it looks like on the color pallette is grey, in the kitchen--it's specialized appliances, and "smart home" technology is still being tested.
Kitchens have been becoming the "hub" of the entire home for several years now as builders have moved to more of an open concept, combining kitchens with living areas and dining areas so homeowners can enjoy gathering, cooking and eating without barriers. But it looks like kitchens will continue to be taken to the next level, as builders are creating more specialized kitchens that are designed with "foodies" in mind.
Grey continues to be the color of choice for many deisgners, although it is now being paired with other colors to creat some bold new choices for the home interior. Many of the new construction homes that I have shown in The Woodlands area recently have gone to the "new neutral." So if you're thinking of doing some remodeling, this may be a great choice. Many designers are recommending what is being called "greige" which is more of a combination of grey and beige, rather than a blueish-grey.
Smart home technology is being approached with caution, as this trend is not for everyone. Technology changes so quickly, and can be such a huge investment, some homebuilders are skeptical.
