Chat Platform to Connect Consumers & REALTORS® on HAR.com

Most creative web sites offer some type of live chat button or link on their sites to provide a way to for visitors to ask any questions or provide concerns about a product or a service. There is a considerable amount of certainty in escalating sales and retention for several online businesses that offer live chat services for pre-sales inquiries and engaging their customers. Because we want to direct consumers on HAR.com to our members, we thought it made sense to provide a similar functionality on HAR.com to engage online consumers. For this purpose, we have developed "Online Agent", which allows consumers to chat with agents who are online.

Consumers
A consumer on HAR.com clicks to see the details of a property listed by George, and notices a blinking green light below George's name indicating that George is online. Once a consumer clicks on the "I am online" button, the following will take place:

1. A chat browser window will open for the consumer, and the consumer will be required to provide their name before initiating the chat with George.

George will hear a chime indicating that he has received a new chat request. In his chat window, he will immediately see the name of the consumer who wishes to chat with him.

Benefits to Consumers

  • The agent has the ability to chat with an unlimited number of consumers at one time.
  • Consumers can initiate a chat window from the listing detail page on HAR.com, the HAR Member Finder, a member's HAR Member Web site, and/or a member's external web site(s) or blog(s).
  • In the chat window, a consumer can click on 'agent info' to view the agent's photo, contact number, and web site. The agent can view information regarding the user as well, such as their name and/or e-mail address.


REALTORS®
HAR member, George, likes the idea of chatting online with consumers and wants to give it a shot. After logging into the HAR Members Only Portal, George clicks on the 'Sign on to Chat' button at the top of the screen. This action will do two things:

1. A blinking green light will appear below George's name (on all George's listings, his HAR Member web site, his blog) which will indicate to the online consumer on HAR.com that George is available to chat with them.
2. It will open a chat browser window for George to view any incoming chat inquiries from consumers who are online on HAR.com.

George is now done chatting with the consumer, and can minimize the chat window. The live chat application will allow George to log in and stay in stand-by mode.

Benefits to REALTORS®

  • Members can make the 'I am Online' badge visible on external web sites and blogs by retrieving simple code from the HAR Members Only Portal. That way consumers can reach members from multiple locations.
  • A transcript of each online chat is saved and archived. Members can access their online chat transcripts via the HAR Members Only Portal. The name and e-mail address (if provided) of the consumer are stored, as well as the entire transcript for each session.
  • If a member is offline, and a user clicks on the chat button, the member will receive an email containing the contents of the message. Members can also opt to be notified via text when a message is received.
