About Us
Mr. Ward Arendt, CIPS, of Marilyn Arendt Properties, is the 2007-2008 Chairman of the HAR International Council. Mr. Arendt plans to increase the number of international property listings on area 82 of the MLS as well as help our members conduct more international real estate transactions.
Who we are
Houston Association of REALTORS® - Founded in 1918, the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) is a 27000-member organization of real estate professionals engaged in every aspect of the industry, including residential and commercial sales and leasing, appraisal, property management and counseling. It is the largest individual membership trade association in Houston, as well as the second largest local association/board of Realtors® in the United States.

The HAR's International Council's mission is "To help our HAR members increase their knowledge and activity in the International real estate arena."
What we do
The International Council is a service of the Houston Association of Realtors. Members pay no additional dues to belong and may attend informational seminars, educational courses (such as the Certified International Property Specialist designation) and networking events.HAR was appointed by NAR to serve as the Ambassador Association to Hong Kong. HAR member Kenneth Li, CIPS, is the Presidential Liaison to the Hong Kong Real Estate Society.
International Transaction
An International transaction as defined by NAR is where any aspect of the transaction has an international component to it, the buyer, the seller, the location of the property or the financing. Buyers or sellers who are US citizens but still heavily influenced by a foreign culture are considered to be "international" as well.
