Landlords, tenants, and home buyers must be aware of the potential dangers of living in a property that once housed a meth lab. Toxic chemicals and residue can stay in the property for years if it is not properly remediated with a hazmat style clean up that can cost the owner thousands.
Landlords--BEWARE of that tenant who says he's new in town and doesn't have a bank account yet, but he has cash to pay you for a few months rent to get started. Make sure you go through a proper check of his credit and references, and don't let the cash tempt you.
Home Buyers--Be aware that the foreclosure or short sale you are pursuing may have a shady past, and the seller (bank) has no obligation to disclose ANYTHING to you. Living in a former meth lab that hasn't been properly remediated can cause serious health problems for people and pets.
