Homestead Exemption: It's time to file!

Did you purchase a home between January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015?  If so, you may be eligible for homestead exemption on that property if it is your primary residence.  It's a great way to save on your property taxes by filing for this exemption.  It's does not cost you anything to file the application and once you have filed it, and it is recorded by Harris County Appraisal District, you will continue to receive homestead exemption savings annually until ownership changes.  There are some requirements you will have to meet but its definitely worth the small amount of time it may take to read up on it and then file.  Visit www.hcad.org for more information or click here for an informational video providing step by step instructions on how to file for your homestead exemption.  There is a filing deadline involved, so don't delay...get started today.  If you have questions, feel free to contact me (832)233 7215.  If you purchased in county beside Harris County, just visit that county's Appraisal District website for more infomation on how to file.
