Money Saving Home Tips
In the south, as you well know, it can get VERY hot. When discount stores put plants such as roses on sale because they are out of season, pick them up. Generally you can get 10 dollar plants for 2 dollars or even 50 cents! To keep the plants from drying out, simply re-use milk bottles, cans and even soda bottles to trickle irrigate you new finds; near the base of the container poke a hole with a small finishing nail, then fill the contain with water and near the plant. Just remember to leave off the lid or the trick won't work. This way you waste less water, but salvage expensive plants!
Have trouble cleaning a stubborn bathtub stain? Try baking soda. Put some baking soda in the tub, mix with a little vinegar and scrub. You'll be amazed!!
Repairing a Crack: A crack - commonly above a door, at the joint between walls, or between the wall and the ceiling - can be permanently repaired with fiberglass mesh tape and several coats of joint compound. To avoid the hassle of all those coats and sandings, you could instead apply latex-silicone caulk, though you may need to repeat the application every few years.
