Mary Kay received her BA from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She currently serves on the Development Committee for the University of Texas at Austin and on the U.T. System Chancellor's Council. She has served as a board member of the Houston Area Women's Center, a United Way agency which assists abused women with counseling and shelter, and as a board member of Fotofest, a biennial international symposium and exhibition of photography. She is currently a board member of M.D. Anderson's Proton Therapy Center.
